Scripture: Proverbs 1:20-33

When that legislator introduced casino gambling, another legislator was moved on by the Holy Spirit to stand up and declare that not only was this a terrible idea, but that it was going to have a dramatically adverse impact. Proverbs 1:20-33 became a prophetic word that day to the legislators. Verse 26-31 say, “I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your terror comes, When your terror comes like a storm, And your destruction comes like a whirlwind, When distress and anguish come upon you. Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge And did not choose the fear of the LORD, They would have none of my counsel And despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, And be filled to the full with their own fancies.” One legislator read a biblical warning: “Do not accept this proposal. It will bring devastation and destruction to the state. God says, “Do not make me mock when your terror comes. Do not do it.” Exactly five weeks later, to the day, on May 4, 2007, the legislator who introduced the gambling legislation was quietly at home in his beautiful city in Greensburg, Kansas, when an F5 tornado rolled in, did a horseshoe circle and completely wiped out the town. He was only saved because he was in the bathtub. I believe eleven people died that day because of legislative greed. A believer’s job is to speak the Word. God’s job is to perform it. Triumph in every place is available. To some we are life to life. To the mocking and disobedient we are death to death. Where is the church who can stand up and say in the face of evil, “Do not make me ask God to remove you.”? I believe in the very near future that church will stand up in the nations!
