Scripture: Psalm 143:12

The reason Psalm 143:12 is so important is because the man who received the covenant that Jesus died to establish for all time is the one who certainly knew what he had and how to use it. David understood covenant mercy as a two-edged sword. It was first mercy that redeemed personal failure. God redeemed it before David ever committed it. Secondly, God “cut off” his enemy who would not relent. David knew the importance of praying and asking God to cut off his enemies. He knew his Kingly responsibility was to preserve his gifting and call. He knew it as a covenantal obligation to preserve the harvest that he was assigned to protect in his generation. If we could catch that understanding, it would catapult us into a place of faith where we could pray like David prayed and see the same results. Until then, we continue to live with our traditions making the Word of God of none effect. Is it time to change that scenario?
