Scripture: 1 Thessalonians 5:5-14

1 Thessalonians 5:12-14 states, “And we urge you, brethren, to recognize those who labor among you, and are over you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. Be at peace among yourselves. Now we exhort you, brethren, warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, be patient with all.” They were told that those who were over them in the Lord would nou-thet-eh-o/admonish/warn them. The proper response to receiving a warning from a leader is to esteem him highly in love. Why do people get offended and change churches? The saints who are mature count warning as a blessing. We need to realize that the prophetic aspect of warning is one of the most important things that God ever gives people. If we can receive a warning, we are teachable and we can go to the pinnacle of God’s gifting and calling. Without it, we cannot.
