Scripture: 1 Corinthians 11:26-30

We are told in 1 Corinthians 11:26-30 concerning communion, “For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He comes. Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks this cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For he who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner eats and drinks judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. For this reason many are weak and sick among you, and many sleep.” What does it mean to be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord? Well, we are told to examine ourselves and he who eats in an unworthy manner eats judgment to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body. And for this reason, many were weak, sick and dead. Weak and sick are certainly afflictions and dead is terminal. Paul preached that even when we take communion, we are facing the Judicial Christ. We must make sure we are fully under the blood and accepting of His forgiveness. When we fully accept His forgiveness, we can forgive ourselves and are free to walk with Him in the Spirit.
