WEDNESDAY, MAY 7
Scripture: ¬¬1 Samuel 8:19,20

Verses 19,20 says, “Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, ‘No, but we will have a king over us, that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.’” There is another reason why the Kingly call has been left in the closet. Kings not only have to judge between right and wrong, but they have to determine when it is time to go to war and when it is time to go to battle. So as a spiritual King, we not only have to judge right from wrong, but we must discern the Spirit’s intent and if necessary, declare the Judicial Hand of God on their head until they repent. Being a King will not always gain us popularity. Being a Priest more often, will – especially if we are Priests that diminish what the Word requires.
