Scripture: Exodus 9:30-35

Exodus 9:30-35 says, “But as for you and your servants, I know that you will not yet fear the Lord God. Now the flax and the barley were struck, for the barley was in the head and the flax was in bud. But the wheat and the spelt were not struck, for they are late crops. So Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh and spread out his hands to the Lord; then the thunder and the hail ceased, and the rain was not poured on the earth. And when Pharaoh saw that the rain, the hail, and the thunder had ceased, he sinned yet more; and he hardened his heart, he and his servants. So the heart of Pharaoh was hard; neither would he let the children of Israel go, as the Lord had spoken by Moses.” One of the primary purposes of the judgments, in addition to setting the Israelites free, was to release the fear of the Lord in Egypt. At that time, there was little fear of the Lord in Egypt. In that sense, America today is exactly like Egypt – there is no fear of God. And there is persecution of Christians because there is no fear of God. That should tell us that one of the primary jobs of the church is to restore the fear of the Lord. And the way to do that is through releasing the judicial Hand of God. The fear of the Lord has always been a fruit of judgment, from the Old Testament to the New and back again. The fear of the Lord only comes on the heels of manifested judgment. so if we are going to see the fear of the Lord restored to America, then it is likely going to come through judgment. The very thing that was promised by the Holy Spirit is something we need to see now. Will we embrace it? Will we say yes to it? Will we ask God for judgments that restores the fear of the Lord in our churches, in our businesses and in our nation? Each of these three arenas need manifest judgments that restore the fear of the Lord.
