Scripture: Acts 4:18-23

Acts 4:18-23 shows us what the early church faced. They faced some of the same kind of court decisions that you and I face today. They were commanded not to speak. The right to publicly speak about Jesus was limited for them. How did they respond? Verse 19 makes it very clear, “But Peter and John answered and said to them, ‘Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.’” They would not shut up, they would not be quiet, they would not accept the court’s restrictions. Are we ready to walk that way with the God we serve. We need to be! If we ask God to reward the judges according to their works, then the Bible spells out the penalty for what they allow and restrict. If they silence our voice, God may silence theirs. If they strike down laws prohibiting homosexuality then may God weigh to them what they have weighed to the nation! When God strikes wayward judges, boldness multiplies in the church! May God strike down judges who strike down righteous laws!
