Scripture: Hebrews 13:5-8

Hebrews 13:5-8 says, “Let your conduct be without covetousness; be content with such things as you have. For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’ Remember those who rule over you, who have spoken the word of God to you, whose faith follow, considering the outcome of their conduct. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.” These verses tell us that God will never leave us or forsake us, so we may take a bold stand, walk in faith and may remember Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. In the years of walking with Him, how often has it seemed like the Lord has left or is absent? How many of us have ever felt as if He was gone and we could not find Him anywhere? Yet we have been exhorted to remember He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. It takes real faith to walk out this passage. It is not easy – not for anyone. And yet, it is something God calls us to do. He calls us to be honorable, obey Him, let our conduct be without covetousness, be content with such things as we have. He will never leave us, never forsake us and He will bring us into the fullness of His promises. Doing this is a challenge when it does not seem or feel like the Lord is near. But the Jesus of Hebrews is the same yesterday, today and forever. Do we know this Jesus and are we walking with Him?
