FRIDAY, DECEMBER 19
Scripture: Exodus 1:15,16

Exodus 1:15,16 says, “Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah; and he said, ‘When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.’” But the midwives could not bring themselves to do that and they refused. They instead made an excuse to Pharaoh for why his directive was not working. So God blessed the midwives as a result. Did they do justice/judgment? Yes, they refused the evil command of the king and saved lives, and God blessed them as a result. Where there is obedience, God blesses, saves and brings freedom as a result.
