Scripture: Exodus 19:9-11

In these verses Moses began to let them know what the problem was going to be for them to walk in righteousness. This passage says, “And the Lord said to Moses, ‘Behold, I come to you in the thick cloud, that the people may hear when I speak with you, and believe you forever.’ So Moses told the words of the people to the Lord. Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow, and let them wash their clothes. And let them be ready for the third day. For on the third day the Lord will come down upon Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.’” There were three things they were going to have to do to be ready. They were to sanctify, which means to set themselves apart from all that is profane. They were to wash, which meant to clean and make soft by beating and kneading in cold water. That sounds unique! ‘To make clean and soft by beating and kneading in cold water…’ is not fun! That was a little tougher than throwing it in a present day clothes washing machine. And thirdly, they were to be ready. That Hebrew word means to be firmly established, fixed, secure and determined. Do we stand in readiness when it comes to these preparational attributes regarding our walk in righteousness? That was the price! Are we a willing, determined people to gain our full inheritance?
