Scripture: Genesis 14:18-20

In Genesis 14:18-20 we are told, “Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said: ‘Blessed be Abram of God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; And blessed be God Most High, Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.’ And he gave him a tithe of all.” We see Abram’s interaction with Melchizedek. He honors Melchizedek by giving him a tithe of all. And although we are not told the reason, we begin to find out that the whole foundation of the covenant of provision in the New Testament is the biblical practice and principle of tithing. If we will commit to follow this principle, we have a covenant right to ask for the full measure of His provision.
