FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9
Scripture: Numbers 18:21-24, Matthew 5:17

Verses 21-24 says, “Behold, I have given the children of Levi all the tithes in Israel as an inheritance in return for the work which they perform, the work of the tabernacle of meeting. Hereafter the children of Israel shall not come near the tabernacle of meeting, lest they bear sin and die. But the Levites shall perform the work of the tabernacle of meeting, and they shall bear their iniquity; it shall be a statute forever, throughout your generations, that among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance. For the tithes of the children of Israel, which they offer up as a heave offering to the Lord, I have given to the Levites as an inheritance; therefore I have said to them, ‘Among the children of Israel they shall have no inheritance.” The Levites were given the tithe and it was a covenant of salt forever before the Lord. Forever means forever. When people say tithing is not New Testament, we have to ask ourselves how many times we find God completely and totally destroying a covenant He had once made? He covenants to a thousand generations. God is not a covenant breaker, He is a Covenant-Keeper. We are told in Matthew 5:17 that Jesus did not come to do away with the law, but to fulfill it. We do not find in the Bible that God is a covenant breaker. He is a Covenant-Keeper! And that is one of the first things that should tell us that tithing is just as much New Testament as it was Old. That truth never changed. The lack of salt in the church can be traced to neglecting the two covenants of salt that God initiated!
