Scripture: Genesis 1:26-29

Genesis 1:26-29 says, “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all[a] the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.’ So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.’ And God said, ‘See, I have given you every herb that yields seed which is on the face of all the earth, and every tree whose fruit yields seed; to you it shall be for food.’” It is obvious that God made man in His own image. In His image and likeness He made us and gave us dominion over the birds of the air, the cattle and over all the earth. So just like God is a Creator, when man was made in God’s image, He made us with an authority and gave us dominion that enables us to create. He also gave us the command to subdue the earth. So the question is, how far does that creative ability go and what happens when that creative ability is used to create evil, sin or iniquity? The answer is obvious – it takes us to a place of judgment. And how rapidly are we getting there as a nation? The answer is clear by looking at our culture and how far it has departed from the Lord.
