Scripture: 2 Samuel 7:4-17

In 2 Samuel 7:4-17 God made a covenant with King David through Nathan the prophet. It is a two-edged sword and it is a covenant of mercy. He says in verse 9, “And I have been with you wherever you have gone, and have cut off all your enemies from before you, and have made you a great name, like the name of the great men who are on the earth.” Verses 14,15 outlines the second edge of the sword, “I will be his Father, and he shall be My son. If he commits iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men and with the blows of the sons of men. But My mercy shall not depart from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from before you.” Jesus bought and paid for the covenant of Sure Mercy, and it is for all of us today. It belongs to us – it is ours! The question is, what are we doing to lay hold of it?
