Scripture: Joshua 1:1-9

Joshua probably had one of the toughest assignments in all of Scripture – he had to follow Moses. He had to follow in the stead of the one who God used to split the Red Sea and bring God’s people out of Egypt. And in Joshua 1:6-9 God says, “Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” The Word is the seed that is the gas for our tanks. Meditate on it, speak it to yourself day and night, “For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” The Word is fuel for the Christian life. And as we grow in the Word, we grow in God’s authority and in faith. Faith comes by hearing it and in the last days we are called to do exploits. But the church is going to do exploits in the name of the Lord and for His purposes. God tells us what we need to do. Are we ready to do it? God is, let us be as well!
