FRIDAY, JULY 14
Scripture: Isaiah 37:14-20

Our Bible is full of God answering prayer! Do we really know what to pray for? Tongues reveals mysteries and points us in God’s direction and we need to use it in order to understand what to pray for and when. In Isaiah 37:14-20 we are told,, “And Hezekiah received the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it; and Hezekiah went up to the house of the Lord, and spread it before the Lord. Then Hezekiah prayed to the Lord, saying: ‘O Lord of hosts, God of Israel, the One who dwells between the cherubim, You are God, You alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth. You have made heaven and earth. Incline Your ear, O Lord, and hear; open Your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God. Truly, Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste all the nations and their lands, and have cast their gods into the fire; for they were not gods, but the work of men’s hands—wood and stone. Therefore they destroyed them. Now therefore, O Lord our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that You are the Lord, You alone.’” Hezekiah was threatened by his chief adversary Sennacherib, king of Assyria and all he could do was pray. And fortunately, he knew God! Do we know Jesus, the prophet like Moses and can we pray judgment? May the Word of the Lord be on our tongue as it was on Hezekiah’s. He prayed like Elisha prayed. Did God answer his prayer? When he was totally surrounded by an enemy, his prayer was so powerful it turned Isaiah around and sent him back with a prophetic word. Shouldn’t we be praying those kinds of prayers today? We can, daily through the Spirit!
