TUESDAY, OCTOBER 3
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 14:3-4

1 Corinthians 14:3-4 says, “But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself. The Greek word for edify is oy-kod-om-eh-o. That word means, ‘To construct, to repair, to build or to rebuild, to square a foundation, to complete a building project whether physical or spiritual, to repair what is damaged, to rebuild what is broken and to restore a building to its pristine condition.’ When we are praying in the Spirit we are praying about bringing to completion God’s promises in the season for which they are ordained. So we are also praying about the perfect will of God, the unfolding of the mysteries of God in the ordained timing of God. How can we go wrong doing that? It seems to be more essential than we ever thought.
