Scripture: 2 Samuel 12:1-8

2 Samuel 12:1-8 is our example of how God will not let a failure destroy us as a result of covenant. This passage outlines God’s intervention in the life of King David after his adultery with Bathsheba and after killing Uriah the Hittite. The Lord comes to confront him through His prophet Nathan. Nathan says to David, ‘You are the Man! Thus says the Lord God of Israel: “I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you from the hand of Saul. I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your keeping, and gave you the house of Israel and Judah. And if that had been too little, I also would have given you much more!“ Through Nathan, God is outlining His multiple gifts to David. That one confrontation was a huge wake-up call for King David. It was God’s covenant intervention to save David and not to destroy him because of David’s repentant heart. That is the kind of covenant we have. We have a covenant with God where He covenants with us that if we mess up and sin, He will intervene. He will confront us to save us and not to destroy us. That is what Jesus bought and paid for you and I. We are accepted and we are redeemed. Let’s start walking in that and expect God to do exactly that because that is part of His goodness.
