Scripture: Joshua 6:15-17
What kind of people does God choose? “We have a whole Bible full of answers to that question. In Joshua 6:15-17 Israel has come out of Egypt. We are told, “But it came to pass on the seventh day that they rose early, about the dawning of the day, and marched around the city seven times in the same manner. On that day only they marched around the city seven times. And the seventh time it happened, when the priests blew the trumpets, that Joshua said to the people: ‘Shout, for the LORD has given you the city! Now the city shall be doomed by the LORD to destruction, it and all who are in it. Only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all who are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.’” Who got saved that day in Jericho? Who was found worthy of being saved? Rahab the harlot, because she in faith hid the spies. Does this mean that we do not have to have a pedigree to be chosen? Obviously not! Men look at the outward appearance but God looks at the heart. What an amazing God we serve, this God looks at the heart!
