Scripture: Numbers 16:20-25, 33-35

If there was ever a perfect example of the need to walk in holiness it is in this passage. Here Moses prayed, ‘Do not respect their offering’ and the Lord honors that prayer. God created a new thing, the earth split and Korah, Dathan, and Abiram went down alive into hell. The earth swallowed them up, all who were with them, even all their belongings. And that is not the end of the story. Numbers 16:33-35 says. “So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly. Then all Israel who were around them fled at their cry, for they said, ‘Lest the earth swallow us up also!’ And a fire came out from the Lord and consumed the two hundred and fifty men who were offering incense.” Every single leader of Israel who aligned themselves with Korah, Datham and Abiram died that day. They were struck by God’s fire and removed. That is why we walk in holiness. Holiness assures that God spreads His protection over us.
