Scripture: John 10:17-20

This passage says, “Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father. Therefore there was a division again among the Jews because of these sayings. And many of them said, “He has a demon and is mad. Why do you listen to Him?” The Jews couldn’t hear this. They did not want to hear it. They said, “He has a demon and is mad.” Jesus is telling us that once we fully commit and walk in our Sonship Gifts no one can take our life until we have finished our race and lived out our purpose. The fullness of Christ carries a guarantee. The same promise extends to us as to Him! This tells us that you and I walk in such a way in Christ that nobody can take us out before we have finished our race. This is something that should establish us in confidence before God in order to finish our race. Cancer can’t take us out prematurely, accidents can’t either! God guaranteed before the world began that our created purpose would be fulfilled! We must however, apply ourselves, agree with our adoption and by faith lay hold of our Sonship Gifts. I can accept that. I can believe it. I can add my faith to that and boy does that give me confidence before God. There is a hymn of the church that many of us know and it starts out, “Blessed assurance Jesus is mine. Oh what a foretaste of glory divine, heir of salvation…” The words of that hymn fit well here. There is glory in this Sonship walk that is beyond what most of us have experienced and it includes mighty confidence and should bring us a great measure of blessed assurance!
