November 2005 Outcry

I had a very interesting experience about ten years ago on an airplane headed for a conference entitled “Harvesting The Nations.”  The Lord spoke to me and said, “An outcry has come to Me against your nation.”  Whenever I heard the words, “…outcry…against…” I immediately thought of Genesis 18.  Verses 20-22 state, “And the LORD said, ‘Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the ‘outcry against’ it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know. Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD.'”  As I thought about these words, I took comfort in the fact, God did not use the word “great” describing the outcry against America.

I felt because the outcry was not yet great, we had time to change future devastating events.  It is up to the church to shoulder the exhortation of First Timothy 2:1-4 and act accordingly. Verses 1-4 state, “Therefore, I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and for all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.  For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.”

An outcry from iniquity demands a response from the church, just as Abraham responded and stood before the Lord to stop the hand of judgment.  Ever since 911 we have had a serious progression of devastating actual events month-by-month and year-by-year.  Surely we can begin to see that fullness of iniquity is having its affect on the land.  The land itself is asking for relief from being filled!  Every month the pressure grows on the church to stop the hand of God in judgment, proclaim the covenant of sure mercy and believe for a harvest.  The people who died from Katrina will never have another opportunity to decide “yes” or “no” for Jesus.

One of the primary reasons that fullness has grown so rapidly is the Supreme Court.  With the nomination of Harriet Miers we have an obligation to pray that God’s perfect will is done and that whether she makes it or whether she doesn’t, we will no longer tolerate a Sandra Day O’Connor type with no moral backbone at all as the 5th vote.  Now is the time to take a stand in the heavenlies! We can pray the prayer of commitment and dedication.  Jesus prayed it in Gethsemane, “…not My will but Your’s  be done” – and we can pray it over Harriet Miers.  Either put her in or take her out, but give us a godly heart as a Supreme Court Justice – reverse Roe v Wade!  Stop the promotion of perversion!  Stop the removal of Christian principles!  Stop the abomination called “separation of church and state.”  Only right-thinking people can turn back the captivity that has been launched against the land.

It is time for crooked-thinking Justices to retire. That is something that can be expedited as we learn to move the hand of God.  Perhaps the biggest problem is that the outcry against the land is greater than the outcry for the land that is coming from the church.  Let us raise our voice over these issues and let God arise in behalf of the land.

Thanks for making a difference.
