Scripture: Isaiah 59:14-21

The armor of God appears at the end of Isaiah 59. The context of the passage is about God being very unhappy because there is no justice. Verses 14 and 15 state, “Justice is turned back, And righteousness stands afar off; For truth is fallen in the street, And equity cannot enter. And he who departs from evil makes himself a prey. Then the LORD saw it, and it displeased Him That there was no justice.” When the church neglects to put on the armor and swing the Sword of the Spirit, there is no justice. Swinging the Sword of the Spirit means demanding specific justice on specific individuals! That is the only reason Jesus bought and paid for justice. The justice we are looking at in this passage has now been blood-bought. It is already purchased. The Redeemer has come to Zion and if we put the armor on, there is only one thing left to do to qualify – turn from transgression. If we will pay the price to turn from transgression, then we have an open door to swing the Sword of the Spirit and to demand the justice of God within our gifting and calling and by the direction of the Holy Spirit. May God’s very own purpose come forth. Perhaps as leaders, we have failed to teach believers how to swing the Sword in accordance with God’s purpose!
