Scripture: Exodus 25:1-8

Exodus 25:1-8 shows us the very first offering that was ever taken in Scripture and it was taken for the purpose of building the sanctuary. It is interesting that offerings either built or maintained the sanctuary throughout Scripture. Tithes were given to people, and offerings were given to buildings. Tithes go to take care of the ministers and offerings go to buildings – that is the biblical model. And people gave both. If that is not our model, then we cannot say we are Biblical. Here is the biblical model – we can walk in it or we can reject it – our choice.
