Scripture: Deuteronomy 4:1-4

Deuteronomy 4:1-4 says, “Now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the judgments which I teach you to observe, that you may live, and go in and possess the land which the LORD God of your fathers is giving you. You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you. Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal Peor; for the LORD your God has destroyed from among you all the men who followed Baal of Peor. But you who held fast to the LORD your God are alive today, every one of you.” If there was ever a clear statement of the righteous judgment that God executes based on the Word, it is this passage in Deuteronomy. He told them, “Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal Peor…” God executed justice within the nation of Israel on all those who violated His Word. And all the people who practiced the sin died. Are we about to encounter a God where some of us may live and others may not? There is an issue here that goes all the way into the New Testament. Romans 1 proclaims sexual sin worthy of death. Which doctrine are we following?
