Scripture: Revelation 2:20-23

In Revelation 2:20-23, speaking to the church of Thyatira, Jesus made it clear that He would arrest evil. He rebuked this church for refusing to restrain evil. He then went on to say “I have no choice but to cut off a generation in order to ‘cut off evil.” Reflecting what we see in Isaiah, Revelation 2:23 says, “I will kill her children with death, and all the churches shall know that I am He who searches the minds and hearts. And I will give to each one of you according to your works.” It is interesting that, in Revelation, Jesus confronted the spread of evil in the church first. God said the only way to cut off the spread of evil that is being propagated by the church is to destroy the disciples of those who are teaching it. Even the church today does not realize God’s commitment to stopping the progression of evil and how the Sword of the lord will be released, in this season, for that very purpose. Are churches spreading evil? Ordaining homosexual priests and blessing same-sex marriages qualifies for the ”Sword of the Lord.” Jesus will be busy in the days ahead. We all prefer the saving-blessing-miracle-working Jesus but the Judge dominates the last days. We have to walk with Him!
