Scripture: Matthew 26:34,35

Matthew 26:34,35 says, “Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you that this night, before the rooster crows, you will deny Me three times.’ Peter said to Him, ‘Even if I have to die with You, I will not deny You!’ And so said all the disciples.” Jesus warned Peter of the pressure ahead. Peter’s proclamation made it clear he thought Jesus knew where he was in relationship to everyone else, and he was the most trustworthy of the group. Unfortunately, Peter could not live up to his mythical commitment. All the disciples agreed with Peter. They all made the same pronouncement. Once Peter made his proclamation, everybody else joined in. They all rose to the same level and they all fell to the same giant of self-protection. They denied Jesus to save self. Jesus denied self to save them. Like Peter, we may not recognize our giants, but Jesus does!
