Scripture: Ezekiel 13:14-19

Ezekiel made it very clear that God sends storms when His leaders diminish the Word they preach. Diminishing the Word is plastering with untempered mortar. God will not only destroy the wall, but also those who plastered it. Now that is a promise of judgment and death for every ministry that compromises God’s Word. Judgment and death sound fairly strong. As well they should – because they are. One of the main tests exhibited here is the money test. In this passage, prophets are prophesying for money rather than speaking truth to the people. The consequence of the prophetic ministry plastering with untempered mortar is in verse 19, “…killing people who should not die, and keeping people alive who should not live.” Compromised ministries shorten the life of the righteous and extend the life of the wicked. That is why God is committed to stand against them until they are removed. He stands against them because they are aiding in the destruction of His harvest field. When people reach a certain point, there is no going back. God has to terminate them.
