November 2013 Outcry

Ephesians 3:8–12 reveals God’s ultimate purpose for the church, “To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ, and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord, in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through faith in Him.” For the church to accomplish its ordained purpose, people have to see that God rules in the affairs of men!

Throughout history, when did people recognize God ruling? God ruled in the flood. He overruled Sodom and Gomorrah. Generally, man attributes natural disasters to God, which find a biblical foundation in verses like Amos 3:6. Amos 3:6 says, “If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the Lord have done it? God grew so frustrated with Israel’s rebellion that He told Jeremiah in Jeremiah 36:1–3, “Now it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came to Jeremiah from the Lord, saying: ‘Take a scroll of a book and write on it all the words that I have spoken to you against Israel, against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke to you, from the days of Josiah even to this day. It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.’”  The prophets were ordered to warn about specific disasters coming as a result of sin if the people refused to repent. God demonstrated through judgment that He ruled in the affairs of men!

It appears that only a very small number of people in our nation believe God rules in the affairs of men. The church is assigned the purpose of demonstrating that Jesus rules in the affairs of men! Therefore the condition of the church determines how close or far we are from realizing God’s purpose! As we cry out for God’s purpose just to be fulfilled in the church, we are praying for God’s rule or overrule on the heads of our most wayward and vile leaders. God knows how to dishonor the demonized leaders among us!  May God arise and anoint His people to stand and demonstrate that God rules over vile, prideful and arrogant leaders. May God repay their perversion according to their works!
