Scripture: Matthew 5:38,39

Matthew 5:38,39 says, “You have heard that it was said, ‘An eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth.’ But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also.” Many believers can fall into the trap of focusing on verses that are comfortable or generally accepted and ignoring their context and ignoring other passages that are in tension with those truths. It is through the repeating of Matthew 5:38,39 over and over, without looking at context, that an entire generation of believers have been taken into the captivity to the demonic doctrine of tolerance. The reason we do not have a Davidic church right now is that these two verses have been sold to the Body of Christ as the sole definition of New Testament love. But nothing could be further from the truth. This is the Priestly Christ preparing evangelists to go out to the lost sheep of the House of Israel. We have already seen the Scriptures about the Judicial Christ. But if we ignore parts of the Word and ignore Scriptural context, it is possible to take two verses and completely shackle a generation of believers. It is obvious why there are few Davids today – it is believers taking Scripture out of context to the exclusion of the whole council of God. This has to change in order to bring in the end-time harvest. Only in evangelism do we turn the other cheek!
