Scripture: 1 John 3:18-21

Because our hearts are likened unto soil by Jesus, and the Word is seed that is planted in the soil, the condition of our heart determines the kind of crop or return we get on the seed we plant. That is where 1 John 3:18-21 is so critical. It says, “My little children, let us not love in word or in tongue, but in deed and in truth. And by this we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. For if our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and knows all things. Beloved, if our heart does not condemn us, we have confidence toward God.” If our heart does not condemn us, then we have confidence toward God. If there is something in our heart that we need freedom from, then we have to weed the soil of our heart. We have to dig out the problem. If we are willing to dig out the seed of whatever the condemnation, guilt or trauma is, then we know with confidence that planting the Word will produce good fruit. God has a ‘weed-eater’ and that weed-eater is something you and I can use to get rid of every weed so that there is no guilt or condemnation and we know we will reap fruit from the word we plant, declare and decree.
