Scripture: Jeremiah 33:7-9

In Jeremiah 33:7-9 God told Jeremiah, “And I will cause the captives of Judah and the captives of Israel to return, and will rebuild those places as at the first. I will cleanse them from all their iniquity by which they have sinned against Me, and I will pardon all their iniquities by which they have sinned and by which they have transgressed against Me. Then it shall be to Me a name of joy, a praise, and an honor before all nations of the earth, who shall hear all the good that I do to them; they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and all the prosperity that I provide for it.” Israel in order to be healed and restored had to go through devastation and captivity. What we are trying to do is to save America from walking through this pattern. We are trying to save the nation from captivity by praying the judgment of God selectively onto the perpetrators so the whole nation does not have to suffer judgment. That would be the most redemptive path. We have a new covenant based on better promises. God restored health and healing to Israel. He can surely restore healing to America but He has to remove the destructive parts that are destroying the land. This is the job of the church. Health for the nation is in our hands. The question is, are we willing to pray what needs to be prayed and quit playing church?
