THURSDAY, JANUARY 28
Scripture: 2 Samuel 7:19

Verse 19 is another piece in the puzzle here. It says, “And yet this was a small thing in Your sight, O Lord God; and You have also spoken of Your servant’s house for a great while to come. Is this the manner of man, O Lord God?” David is saying, You set my future course for my whole life in this covenant. This covenant guarantees me that I will reach my destiny. I have to otherwise it cannot be fulfilled. So when Jesus shed His blood and gave us the covenant of Sure Mercy, does it guarantee our destiny? It did for King David so it must for us. How about our house? Our house is involved in this, our kids and grandkids. This passage says, ‘for a great while to come.’ Is this how men operate? Men cannot do this. Only God, the Creator of the heavens and the earth can guarantee a destiny. Only God can speak concerning our generations and include them in this covenant. Only the Creator of the heavens and the earth could do this! David seems to be saying he is stunned and amazed because God had done something for him that no man could ever do. David is awed and amazed that God has guaranteed his destiny by this covenant. Are we amazed that the covenant of Sure Mercy guarantees our destiny? If we are not, we need to be!
