Scripture: Matthew 27:22-25

In Matthew 27:22-25 state, “Pilate said to them, ‘What then shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?’ They all said to him, ‘Let Him be crucified!’ Then the governor said, ‘Why, what evil has He done?’ But they cried out all the more, saying, ‘Let Him be crucified!’ When Pilate saw that he could not prevail at all, but rather that a tumult was rising, he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, ‘I am innocent of the blood of this just Person. You see to it.’ And all the people answered and said, ‘His blood be on us and on our children.’” Pilate was trying to tell people that Jesus did not deserve to be crucified. But the people refused to heed. And in verse 25 they made this statement, “His blood be on us and on our children.” That statement is important when we think about the Jewish people and what happened to them in 70 AD. Things got so bad some ate their own children to try and survive, according to Josephus. Look at what happened with Hitler. Look at the devastation and destruction that has come on the Jewish people as a result of that statement in verse 25. We cannot ignore this and in blindness believe that it will not happen in America if we do not turn. Repentance and restoration are what we must ask for because that is the only way out of our current march toward fullness of iniquity.
