WEDNESDAY, MARCH 1
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 14:1-4, Acts 2:4

The month of March begins our first study on the importance of this prayer language and what God intends us to gain by using it! 1 Corinthians 14:1-4 states, “Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” The Holy Spirit-inspired prayer language of Acts 2:4 has several distinct purposes, “And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” First, when we choose to pray in tongues, we exercise communication between us and God’s Spirit, “For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries…He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself…”
