Scripture: 2 Peter 1:16-18

Verses 16-18 say, “For we did not follow cunningly devised fables when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of His majesty. For He received from God the Father honor and glory when such a voice came to Him from the Excellent Glory: ‘This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.’ And we heard this voice which came from heaven when we were with Him on the holy mountain.” Jesus walked in pure and holy character so that He could handle the fullness of His calling. And that is what the Holy Spirit will do for us and it is one key reason why praying in tongues is so important. It brings us into the revelation of the seed we have to plant that will sustain us and carry us through. Right here in 2 Peter, that seed is first and foremost the character of the King. As we emphasize the character of the King, we can handle everything God wants us to do. And we will only be prepared if we have the character of the King!
