SATURDAY, JANUARY 20
Scripture: 1 Kings 16:29-34

In 1 Kings we see fullness of iniquity rising in Israel because of Ahab. We are told in the 38th year of Asa, king of Judah, that Ahab becomes king over Israel. Verse 30 says, “Now Ahab the son of Omri did evil in the sight of the Lord, more than all who were before him.” That is quite a statement! In verse 32 it says, “Then he set up an altar for Baal in the temple of Baal, which he built in Samaria. And Ahab made a wooden image. Ahab did more to provoke the Lord God of Israel to anger than all the kings of Israel who were before him.” In the next verse we see the judgment of God falling, so it is obvious that under Ahab’s rule Israel came into fullness of iniquity. The important thing is to follow what transpires from the point that Israel reaches fullness of iniquity under Ahab to what transpires and what is God’s response. Can we expect the same from God now? He has not changed!
