Scripture: Exodus 34:5-7, 1 Kings 18:39-40
Exodus 34:5-7 says, “Then the Lord descended in the cloud and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the Lord. And the Lord passed before him and proclaimed, ‘The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” In order to open the potential way to salvation of the three million, Elijah has to execute the 850. There is no way out of that. To confront evil in this particular case required it. That is what it would take. When we walk with the judicial Christ this is the price. The Lord tells us what it is going to be. We do not dream it up and we do not think it up. We wait on God for it. That is the process. God is the Lord of the unfolding of events toward salvation. That is fully His part. Elijah had to walk it and so do the warriors today!
