Scripture: 2 Kings 6:1-7
Because Elisha said no to the temptation of a multi-million dollar gain, he maintained his relationship with God in integrity and holiness. When one of the prophets borrowed an axe and promptly lost it, he cried out for help. Because Elisha had maintained holiness, he was able to respond powerfully. “So the man of God said, ‘Where did it fall?’ And he showed him the place. So he cut off a stick threw it into the water and commanded the axe head to float. So he cut off a stick, and threw it in there; and he made the iron float. Therefore he said, ‘Pick it up for yourself.’ So he reached out his hand and took it.” All of a sudden the borrowed axe was restored. But why? Because a man chose to walk in integrity. He refused to disobey the command of the Spirit of God. That is how to maintain holiness. We walk in the Spirit and do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. Obedient action to the voice of the Holy Spirit preserves faith for miracles, signs and wonders.
