MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17
Scripture: Mark 9:30-32

Mark 9:30-32 says, “Then they departed from there and passed through Galilee, and He did not want anyone to know it. For He taught His disciples and said to them, ‘The Son of Man is being betrayed into the hands of men, and they will kill Him. And after He is killed, He will rise the third day.’ But they did not understand this saying, and were afraid to ask Him.” There is an interesting context for fear in this passage. They were afraid to ask the Lord, ‘What does that mean?’ What is it that we are afraid to ask God? Are we afraid to ask Him what our next assignment is? Are we afraid to ask Him where He wants us to live? Are we afraid to ask Him, who does He want us to work for? What is it that we are afraid to ask God? Maybe we need to confront the fear or dread of the future and just ask Him! At the same time we need to be prepared when the answer comes. Do we really want to forfeit a major part of what God wants to do because we are fearful? They have a cowboy saying in Texas—‘man up!’ Saints, it’s time to man up!
