Scripture: Matthew 1:1-3

Matthew gives us a look at all those God chose to populate the family tree of Christ! Who are those who would be counted worthy to birth God Himself into the earth? Will we find the richest and brightest or the lowest and the least? Will we find people like us? If we could choose our own family would we agree or disagree with God’s choices? Is there a message to us in God’s choice of those individuals who bore His only Son? Do all those including God’s family lineage need a Savior as desperately as we do? We can learn from God’s choices. God has, through covenant, made a declaration over the family that Christ came through. The Blood of the covenant covers them just like it covers us. It would be of great value for us to look at Christ’s family tree and weigh the moral character of those involved. Does He have a minimum requirement in qualifying for Christ’s family tree? This is an interesting proposition.
