TUESDAY, JUNE 25
Scripture: Matthew 16:21-23

One of the leading men of the New Testament that God chose was a lowly fisherman. But he certainly was an opinionated and strong-willed, lowly fisherman. Peter wasn’t just your average lowly, pliable individual, but was outspoken, strong-minded and impulsive. In Matthew 16:21-23, Jesus told the disciples He was headed for the cross and death but that God would resurrect Him. Peter didn’t like it and it didn’t fit with his own plan. So Peter took Jesus aside and began to rebuke Him. In turn Jesus rebuked Peter, “Get behind Me, Satan! You are an offense to Me, for you are not mindful of the things of God, but the things of men.” If a person is willing to rebuke the Creator of the heavens and earth, he or she is certainly bold and opinionated to the point of being identified as listening to satan instead of God. Does God accept hard-headed, opinionated people who at times unknowingly turn their ear to satan? It appears He does! The Lord loves a challenge and has all the tools in His arsenal to take the hardness out of our heads and hearts and replace it with something else! He did it with Peter and He will do it with us! Let’s humble ourselves and submit, in Jesus’ name!
