June 2008 Outcry

Next month we celebrate Independence Day.  The greatest single threat to American independence in the history of our nation continues to emerge.  An independent judiciary is practicing judicial tyranny.  By 61% to 39% California voted to define marriage as between one man and one woman.  The California Supreme Court by a 4 to 3 margin overturned the will of the people and said “no” that marriage could be between anybody who wanted to join. Churches that refuse to accept perversion can face lawsuits!

Massachusetts was the first State to overthrow biblical heritage and California has quickly followed suit and I’m sure there will be many more.  The question is: What is the church to do?  In Genesis 18:16-21 we are told that God was not a silent Observer when this progression of perversion emerges.  “Then the men rose from there and looked toward Sodom, and Abraham went with them to send them on the way.  And the LORD said, ‘Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?  For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.’  And the LORD said, ‘Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is great, and because their sin is very grievous, I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry against it that has come to Me; and if not, I will know.’”

Jesus referred to this issue when He prophetically proclaimed the era of  His Second Coming, “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.  For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24:37-39).  Jesus prophesied about these days and we are watching them unfold in our midst.  The question is: What shall we do?

Again in Revelation 11:18 we see a dramatic contrast when we are told, “The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, And the time of the dead, that they should be judged, And that You should reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, And those who fear Your name, small and great, And should destroy those who destroy the earth.” From Genesis to Matthew to Revelation the message is the same.  The enemy has a plan to destroy cultures and nations before the church gets a harvest from them.  No nation can stand being filled with iniquity because the land cries out for cleansing and devastations force out the inhabitants.  America is progressively being filled with iniquity by tyrannical judges who through arrogance and deception determine to impose their will on the people.

Psalm 2 warns us of such judges, that they will hinder a harvest when it says in verses 7-12, “I will declare the decree: The LORD has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.  Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.  You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel’  Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.  Serve the LORD with fear, And rejoice with trembling. Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little.  Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him”

Only when the church steps in to the reality of verse 9 are we equipped for the confrontation demanded by verses 10-12.  It is time to proclaim to the tyrannical judges wherever they may be found “Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little.  Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.” So the real question is:  What does it take to move the hand of God to save a harvest and rid ourselves of the tyranny of such perverse and abominable men and women.  When the early church was faced with the tyranny of a Herod they PRAYED.  James died but Peter was saved.  Herod was removed. Isn’t it time we PRAYED  Psalm 2:12 over every independently-minded and perversely-directed judge?  It is certainly proper in this season and may well save a nation.

There is an OUTCRY that is rising to heaven and only the church can save our respective States and Nation by moving God’s hand to remove perverse judges!
