Scripture: 1 Samuel 18:1-4,  Genesis 17:9-11

In 1 Samuel 18:1-4 we have a description of the exchange of weapons that happened between David and Jonathan.  It says in verses 3 and 4, “Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul. And Jonathan took off the robe that was on him and gave it to David, with his armor, even to his sword and his bow and his belt.”  So the exchange of honor in Blood Covenant says that your covenant partner will go to war and even die in your behalf.  Any time he calls on you, you must be willing to go to war and die in his behalf.  The third provision of Blood Covenant seems to be the place that the American Church has utterly failed.  We haven’t gone to war or demanded God’s covenant intervention.  It is no wonder God h has an issue with the American Church, as its passivity has become a stench in His nostrils.  Passivity can turn a potential warrior into a wimp because he only prays blessing.  Thank God that men like Mordecai Ham weren’t burdened with the untruth of our theology.        Whenever Blood Covenant was made each party shed blood.  If we were renewing a covenant what would we offer God today?  That would be our availability and our time.  The shedding of our blood would be God’s ability to ask for our time any place He wanted it and us cancelling anything to do whatever He asked.  Our time is our life, and it is like our blood.  Renewing a Blood Covenant engenders a new beginning where you lay down the availability of your time.  If there was ever a season to renew covenant, it is now!
