Scripture: Genesis  18:16-33

Abraham confronted God over the issue of slaying both the righteous and the wicked with the same act.  Verse 25 says, “Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right(mish-pawt),?”  Now Abram is talking to God about doing justice.  He acknowledges God as the Judge of all the Earth and he says, shall You not do justice?  Justice does not allow the righteous to be punished for what the wicked do.  Therefore, one of two things has to happen.  Either stop the judgment or get the righteous out and allow the judgment to continue.  Abraham never asked God to stop the judgment of the wicked – all he asked for was to get the righteous out.  Perhaps that is something we need to remember for this season.
