June 2010 Outcry

In Numbers 10:2 God told Moses, “Make two trumpets of hammered silver, and use them for calling the community together and for having the camps set out.”  Verse 9 commands a certain trumpet sound for war, “When you go into battle in your own land against an enemy who is oppressing you, sound a blast on the trumpets. Then you will be remembered by the LORD your God and rescued from your enemies.”  1 Corinthians 14:7,8 describes the condition of the American church and how we got here, “Even in the case of lifeless things that make sounds, such as the flute or harp, how will anyone know what tune is being played unless there is a distinction in the notes? Again, if the trumpet does not sound a clear call, who will get ready for battle?”  The majority of the America church stands unprepared for battle physically or spiritually.

There is a much quieter cure for physical preparation than for spiritual.  Physical preparation for war requires survival supplies of food and water and a weapon of choice that dispenses deadly force with adequate ammunition. Spiritual preparation demands biblical study and relationship with the Holy Spirit where we discipline our tongue to speak only what we hear.  The greatest weapon of all is our words because we walk is Isaiah 11:4, “but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth. He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the wicked.”

Peter walked in this place with Jesus as his words killed Ananias and Sapphira.  As church leaders many of us owe believers an apology for trumpeting an uncertain sound and because of it they are not prepared for war.  The word I hear for the church is to prepare to deliver “lethal force.”   If there is any hesitation in us physically or spiritually to deliver “lethal force”  then we are not prepared for what is about to unfold in our land.

By taking the Sermon on the Mount out of context, we have taken a covenantal sword out of the hand of the church.  We disarmed the church my emphasizing “turn-the-other-cheek” and completely disregarded “…you are the salt of the earth…”  In Luke 16:16, Jesus said, “The law and the prophets were until John.”  In Luke 24:44 He said, “…All things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses and the prophets and the Psalms concerning me.”  Since the law and prophets were until John, that leaves us with the Psalms.

What is unfilled in the Psalms is the churches are of “lethal force” to represent Jesus in the last days.  In Acts 2:33-35 Peter quotes Psalms 110 to describe receiving the Holy Spirit.  Psalms 110 is an arsenal of “lethal force.”  When David lost Jerusalem, in Psalms 143:12 he prayed lethal force on the enemy.  When David experienced political betrayal is Psalm 55:15, he prayed lethal force, “Let death take my enemies by surprise; let them go down alive to the grave, for evil finds lodging among them.

It is time to pray like David!
