Scripture: John 5:25-30

John 5:25-30 makes it clear that righteous judgment is not our idea. Verse 27 makes it pretty clear, “…and has given Him authority to execute judgment also, because He is the Son of Man.” Jesus has been given the authority to execute God’s judgment. Now when we go to the book of Acts and look at the hostility that the early church endured, we realize that it was Jesus that killed Herod. It was Jesus who released blindness on the false prophet. It was Jesus who executed Ananias and Sapphira. This is not the Jesus that is presented in most of our churches. The Jesus that did this is the Jesus we are supposed to know and represent! Peter and Paul represented Jesus. The early church represented Jesus. What is wrong with us? Perhaps we have bought into a different gospel.
