Scripture: Romans 8:12-14

When it comes to the issue of self-control, or giving the Spirit dominion, the necessity of embracing this aspect of personal growth is evident from Romans 8:12-14. Verses 12-14 state, “Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.“ If we are led by the Spirit of God, the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our life is eng-krat-i-ah in action, bringing the Sprit’s dominion over every aspect of our being. That qualifies us to carry and manifest the judicial Hand of God. If we yield to the dominion of the Spirit in our life, then we can project the dominion of the Spirit to other lives. If we say yes to God’s yardstick, then we can pray that yardstick on others. If we say no to God’s yardstick, we cannot stand in the fire we need to call down.
