Scripture: Psalm 2:5, Job 4:4,5

In Psalm 2:5 we are told, “Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:..” “Distress” is the Hebrew word baw-hal. Baw-hal is defined in a very familiar passage. In Job 4:4,5 we are told, “Your words have upheld him who was stumbling, And you have strengthened the feeble knees; But now it comes upon you, and you are weary; It touches you, and you are troubled.” What did God do to Job? Because the word “troubled” is the Hebrew word baw-hal. Baw-hal is beyond distress. This is Job after the enemy has been released to bring complete destruction. In the first round, satan went out and destroyed everything that Job had. A hostile raid took his servants. Fire fell from heaven as lightning killed all the sheep. The Chaldeans formed three bands, took the camels and killed the servants with the edge of the sword. Job’s sons and daughters were having a party and a windstorm came, collapsed the house and killed them all. His devastation was near complete. And finally, satan was allowed to touch Job’s body and he broke out in boils. Now the promise in Psalm 2 is, when people begin to actively fight against God’s biblical morality, God will mock them and He will terrorize them. Where is the terrorizing of evil-doers? Is it possible that some of these things have to be released on them? There is one thing for sure – when the early church prayed, they prayed for this God to show up in their behalf. I wonder if He did.
