Scripture: Isaiah 45:8

Perhaps one of the greatest promises in Isaiah is Isaiah 45:8. It is one that we should know, memorize and be praying specifically in this season. When the calamity of verse 7 comes and people repent, we can pray verse 8, “Rain down, you heavens, from above, And let the skies, pour down righteousness; Let the earth open, let them bring forth salvation, And let righteousness spring up together. I, the Lord, have created it.” Verse 8 is a prayer for a people who want a harvest. It is a prayer that God’s creative Hand would rain the miracles, the signs and the wonders and will turn wickedness into righteousness because after a calamity, people will turn to the Lord. When we start praying verse 8, we are preparing for the aftermath of the next calamity. Calamity is often necessary to stem the tide of evil! Calamities turn people and turn nations. Why have we not been able to turn the nation after Katrina, and after 911? Because the church was not in a place to demonstrate the creative power of God and He is calling us now to get ready. Praying Isaiah 45:8 is preparation for the next move of the Spirit.
